I'm looking for power for my brake fluid resevoir mount XM radio. Is there anywhere up front that I can safely steal the power from or do I need to come off the battery. On my VTX, I stole the power from the headlight bezel. If not, how hard is it to get wiring under the tank to the front? Does it require removing the tank. The amperage is minimal, < 1 amp. Thanks,
Dave

I powered mine by tapping into the headlight harness under the tank. I grabbed the yellow wire that fed the parking lamps that are in the headlights, that I wasn't using any more as I swapped the stocks for Adjure Trilients

You can pick up power from the headlight wire at the fuse box. I think the fuse# is 9, but verify. The wire color is green w/yellow stripe. It only has power on it when the ingition is on.

I actually installed a 12 v socket under the seat and plugged my cig power plug into that when I had it, be careful some of those require stepped down power, not straight 12 volts...so you can't just snip the wire and power them...

some of the XM's required a ground loop isolater to eliminate the engine whine

I actually have the voltage reducing wire for the XM. Is it difficult to run the wire under the tank. Does it require removal.

I ran wiring from my HB mounted gps and my new horns. Routed from the front. Remove the bear claw, left side cover, and loosen/remove two plastic covers. There are wires running from the front to the battery/fuse box area. Use black cable-ties to hold the wire to another cable running that way. Don't have pics -- would be easier to see.

accessing the underside of the tank is a piece of cake, unless you have the Rivco risers, which requires you to remove and replace the rear fuel tank pivot bolt while performing the following...here is the, "Step by step" from the repair manual. Enjoy

Thanks for all your help, I pulled off the bear claw cover and fed the wire through there, then used nylon ties. Pretty simple. First accesory down, the windshield and lowers are next.
