Has anyone tried the metzeler 140/75 17 vr front tyre rather than the standard 150/80 17 vr i was thinking about trying it for better/ more nimble handling , i know some have fit the 130 but i don't want to go that small

I will be trying the Michelin Commander 2 in a 140/75/17 next and for what it is worth I reckon Michelin are a far superior tyre to the Metzlers

They are both very good tires. I have run the Michelins and Art DiLarso (IMFASTTOO) is currently running the Metz 140 on one of his R3s. Here in our area, we both can get around 10,000 miles from either tire, although it seems that the Michelin will hold up better to more aggressive riding. Of course the longevity issue has much to do with the type and quality of roads that one frequents in addition to how one cares for or maintains ones' tires.

We are both of the opinion that the B'stone Exedra Max 130 does the best job of lightening up (big time!) the feel and improving the handling behavior of our R3s providing improved turn-in, a better rake angle and overall a better balanced and more responsive set up. Size may matter, but when it comes to front tires, especially on our monsters, smaller is decidedly better.

Here's what I am currently and very happily running up front...

EXEDRA MAX | Products | Motorcycle Tires | Bridgestone Corporation

The B'stone Exedra Max 130/70ZR17 is the perfect complement to their 240 which I have used on the rear for nearly 2 seasons now. My bike puts nearly 175 hp to the rear wheel and yet it handles in many respects much more like a small sportbike than a superbruiser cruiser!:D

Going to have a yarn with Dave at Tyres 4 Bikes about running the smaller tyre when I am due a new one .. maybe even try a Bridgestone this time.
