OOOwell. Went to inspect bike and talk to owner. He wanted $4500 for an 05 with 14500mi and the bike was cheery. He told me he has had problems with bike and no upgrades. Also told me he sold it about 30 mins before I got there. #@$% (he told me first come first serve and I was 30 late) First person to see it bought it. I was ok with that, Triumph built more than one.

From what I have been reading over the years it seems like the 2nd gear problem comes from too many red line shifts into second gear. By the time you get to 3rd the speed is up and the pressure is less on the 3rd gear set.
The upgraded gear would no doubt take more punishment. I read that the Suzuki M109 early models are having the same problem.
