I did this mod on my Buell today and it worked great not sure what the unit on rocket looks like but if any of you guys have other bikes and are interested in doing this it is a great cheap mod and does away with the need for a different unit
i've done this mod on several bikes and they have all worked great. Basically you open up the stock flasher and double check it has a timing chip. Orient yourself with the pic and your flasher, using the notch on the chip as a point of reference. Removing the indicated connection either above or below the circuit board will enable it to function as a LED flasher. Then just seal it back up with a glue or silicone and let dry. DONE.
Thanks to cyclic on Buell forum
I had already tried two different flasher units to tryand get thing to flash

Val - all you need is a LOAD INDEPENDANT RELAY - on ebay for about USD-9 - I bought a stack from a guy in Taiwan with differing pin positions - Did all the bikes. ime the LED specific relays are mostly ****e as (in the ones I opened) they direct drive the relay circuit and do NOT click a power relay.

- My guess is that the link in question is a load detector feature so that if a normal bulb goes the relay stops.

Does your dash warning light stay on (i.e. not flash) with LED indicators? - mine did even with LED relays etc - You need a tiny resistor to earth - this offloads residual current from the LEDs.

I'd be reluctant to open an R3 relay without cause unless I had a spare handy. Not for a saving of 9 bucks.

I seen a nice set on a harley bagger the other night. They were not OEM he had to use a dremel to fit them in his lite sockets. They were LED so I am not sure if he had to instal anything else. What caught my eye is when you were not using turn signals they were led driving lights and when you switched to a turn signal the driving lamp would go out (white) and a yellow turn signal lite would appear.
