KN conversion.

Is there any reason you need to remove the internal (inside the frame rail) intake plumbing? Can you not leave that in place along with the stock air filter and skip the two small K&N's for the sensor/breather?

The reason I ask is on the R3T the seat is bolted on. That makes using the stock filter location for storage rather impractical. I did think of storing my tools there, but ran into a bit of a problem tightening the seat bolts.....

I guess you could leave it there, but the sensor wouldn't be looking at the same air going in the throttle bodies. It would just be stagnant air. You would still need to install a filter on the breather since the intake plenum would be open to dirty air once you disconnect it from the throttle bodies. The seat being bolted down is a drag. I use the hell out of mine for storage. It's amazing how much crap you can stuff in there.

Thanks Jamie. That makes sense.

Guess I'll spring for the extra filters and remove the rest of the plumbing.

I just removed the first bit of plastic plenum, the bit that fits onto the t/bodies and left the rest in place so it can be reversed easily, I have left the sensor in place, its not far from the intake air, not fitted the breather filter either, put some foam in the bottom of the storage box, it stays dry but I wouldnt put my sandwiches in there!!

Got your pm leigh :D .Im just wondering if its going to be worth doing.I heard somone on this forum did this mod and got 149 bhp at the back wheel but mine has 146bhp already so for an extra 3bhp is it worth me risking the rain and the extra costs for having it re dynoed.Does it really make that much differance.Because to be quite honest every mod ive done i cant say that it made that much differance.I suppose the total mods all accumalated to the increase in HP but even then i cant say it made a,massive increase in power that you could actually feel.
