USB Cable for Triumph Motorcycle TuneECU Program : Amazon.com : Automotive

I was going to get a GiPro, but after perusing several posts, thought the better option would be to use TuneECU to achieve the same improvements and possibly more. I'd like to start off by ordering the right cable.

Also, any suggestions on which map to use on an '05 that's stock? Should I do anything about the O2 sensor and/or the secondaries?

Thanks!

Yes that cable will work fine with TuneECU. It has the correct chip set. Be sure to download the correct drivers from the link on the TuneECU site. Don't use the drivers that come with the cable.

Thanks guys.

I'll get that cable ordered today. I do run Win7 on the desktop, but my wife's laptop is XP. I've got the TuneECU site bookmarked, so I can snag those drivers.

No problem.. wheel the bike in to the room hook up the cable to the Desktop PC open a window and 'go for it' ;):)

Just tell her the bikes part of the family now..:D

Hey Judge, If you can score a Tuneboy cable somewhere I have the key to your bike. If not you can use my cable to do what you need to.

Thanks very much.

Is there any substantial difference between using TuneECU (with the cable I just bought) and TuneBoy on a stock bike like mine to eliminate the gear 1-3 timing retard and open the secondaries?

I got the time today to put all the pieces together, hooked the laptop up to the R3, read/saved the existing map (20227). I did ran a comparison with the map I was intending to load (20222) and didn't see any differences except in the mapping for rpm 4800+ and throttle 15%+. I went ahead and loaded the 20222 map. My '05 R3 is currently stock.

The secondaries I remapped manually to much closer, but not quite, to full 100% across the board. Ran the "reset adaptation" and disconnected.

Did a 12-minute tune just to be double sure the changes were recognized and went for a test hop. I could feel a bit more throttle response starting off, but it wasn't huge. I will probably set all the values of secondaries to 100% open soon just to see what that gives me.

Later, I spent some time with the program without the laptop connected to the bike and, with the help of some previous posts, figured out to copy and paste the 4th+ gear ignition timing tables over to the gear 1-3 tables. I also found that you need to right click the O2 sensor box to disable it. Set all the secondaries to full 100% too. Saved that modified map and will give it a try later in the week.

Sounds complicated.
Can ya break that down into English?
How about a video of EVERYTHING,
from saving the original tune to what you're changing and why...
