Is there a market for used stock parts?

It is hard to sell stock parts because everyone's already got them. The only stock part that is really easy to sell is the seat pan because people who want to have a custom seat built will often buy a second stock seat so that they can still ride while their seat pan is off at the seat builder.

I have had LOTs of BMW extra parts, stock and otherwise. I've typically gotten rid of them by offering them as a collection on eBay for about 15% of retail for the lot. Sometimes that will be a big enough discount to attract hoarders to buy.

I've offered stock and accessory Rocket parts on forums, and through eBay, but usually someone will want to buy just one of the pieces, although they still want the 15% of retail pricing. I think that Rocket owners are generally cheaper than BMW owners, and maybe that is what drives people to the Rocket to begin with. It is very modestly priced for what it is.

So ... good luck with getting rid of your extra stuff. And if you figure out how to do it for a fare price, post up and let the rest of us know.

Sorry to derail the thread, but what do you guys do to plug the hole over the old air/toolbox to keep it dry? Saran wrap and a rubber band?

Exactly what I did, Kiddo, except I used some heavier gauge plastic than Saran Wrap.
Has worked flawlessly for me over four years. I also use filter foam stuffed into the hole at the bottom instead of fussing with that little K&N crankcase filter.

I managed to wrestle the crankcase filter on...but that's just me. I think we have some 6 mil plastic sheeting that I can steal a square from and find a silicone band instead. It'll probably last longer. Thanks!

You don't have to cover it if you have a filter on the crankcase breather. You could also put a hose on the breather tube and put the filter on that. you can also leave the the plenum part that connects to the air box in the bike. What's the point of removing it?

Well if anyone wants an the airbox plenum and tubes let me know. I don't see myself ever undoing that ramair mod. That crank case breather filter was a ***** to get on there (cause of the tight working conditions) It's gonna stay that way lol.

I may be interested in your headlights. Are they chrome?

You would be surprised. As far as the mufflers. Someone might start using them as base for custom pipes. That's what happened to the Valkyrie pipes. Then, some old part become art. I have the original small peanut gas tank of my 94 Sportster displayed as art. The moment I throw away anything, I'm looking for it so squirrel the RIII parts.
