Visibility. As riders we are constantly evaluating just how visible we are to traffic. We think when riding "Does that guy see me?" and when not riding we ask ourselves "What can I do to make me and my rig more visible?" After all, safety is our 1st concern right? However, we also weigh out these choices with an eye towards fashion and appearance. You might not think you are vain, but if safety is your 1st concern, how come you don't ride in a hiviz yellow jacket and helmet? I'll tell you why. Because we want to be visible but we want to look cool doing it.

So in a quest for better visibility that still allows me to have a bike and jacket in the color of my choice (black, hey I want to look cool too) I purchased the Kisan pathBlazer Headlight Modulator from Biker Hiway ($152.95). This unit modulates or “pulsesâ€Â

I have to wonder if a headlight modulator would have prevented my crash back in '06, I guess I'll never really know. But after buying the Rock I installed a headlight modulator (albeit a different brand) I really appreciate the difference it makes. I've actually had a 'er gentleman stop his pick-up in the middle of the road and threaten to whoop my ass if I didn't turn "those bright ass flashing lights off." He went on to say they were annoying as hell, and I did manage to get in, "that's the point" before my ride partner, a fellow brother Mason and Georgia State Patrolman, exited his bike, flashed his badge and proceeded to inform this gentleman of the legalities of it. They are 50 state legal as long as they go off at dusk, much to the dismay of the local city occifers. I guess that they wanna be the only ones with pretty blinking lights and headlight flashers. I've got a video of mine on photobucket let me see if I can locate the link to it. Ah here it is along with the Stebel horn.

Thanks for the vids. My wife was inside with the video camera uploading wedding videos when I took pics of the headlight install, so I didn't get to take any video.

I'm glad they are annoying. I just hope all of the LEO's I run into know that they are legal!

Thanks OWL. One thing I forgot to mention, the pathBlazer will handle up to 100w so those of you who have upgraded your headlights can modulate them as well with no problems.

I've had the Kisan headlight modulator and tail light flasher for a couple years now and it is amazing how much better cagers can see me. How do I know? Because I can see their car rock forward when they stomp the brakes
