Info for US riders planning on going to RDU

Sing out if you blokes need a hand organising anything. I have a few contacts in international trade that will oblige with some assistance if it is of benefit to organise from here.

Kiwi mate of mine was importing Harleys into NZ for years ..still has his contacts both here and in the States. Pretty sure he said it was around $900 or $1,000 to bring a bike from the States. Can get hold of contact details of if needed.

Tex.....You are absolutely right!!!

Rich is a state of mind....When you look at it that way....I am One of the Richest Ol'Fart you will ever see....

Looking back on my life I have very few regrets........I have had a good life and hope to continue it for a good while to come.

I should have said financially solvent to do all the things I have on my bucket list. If I would have saved enough money to do that list now....I would not have done all the things I have done up to now......I think it was a good trade off for me.

Even if I had all the money needed to do the M/C trip down under....I do not think my body would allow me to enjoy the trip like you guys can.

So while you are still able to enjoy life.....have a blast...and leave a small bucket list of things to do

Sea freight will be cheaper but longer. Not a problem as I have other bikes to ride while mine is on the boat. The bike has to be squeaky clean as previously noted and the crating has to be certified and fumigated pursuant to some standard I can't remember just now. I have swapped a few emails with an outfit in California that specializes in shipping bikes that can handle all of the crating, forwarding, etc

I spoke to a mate again today, he did mention the bikes MUST be squeaky clean and the crate has to comply etc... I put it to him that if you guys were to make a tubular steel crate to protect your bike and to strap it into it would avoid all the treated/untreated timber issue AND if you depart from the same port you could reuse the same crate going home, I'm sure one of us would have the room to store a crate or two or you could forward the crate to your exiting port.
Two mode of transport are By sea (Cheaper) or by Air (About 4 times the price), I am waiting on further info from another mate from a different company.... I will advise.

I'm back at work on Monday so I will call the International Freight Forwarders we use at work as we send stuff to Germany & the USA all the time, one of the company's we use ship all the World Rally Cars around and the other does Formula One and Moto GP.
I have good contacts with both mobs and will see what they can come up with as well.
