Imbecile alternative

Don't feel too bad about this, I am reasonably computer literate and still have issues connecting it up sometimes, there's a lot of variables. I have the software on two laptops and sometimes one will just not connect, the other BAM!, straight in.

The major issues keeping it really simple.

1. The computer needs the correct driver ( a program that allows the cable and computer to know and be friends with each other) Sadly Windows thinks it knows better and automatically installs drivers for you. If Windows loads the incorrect Driver it can be a bit of a b*gger to remove and install the right ones.

2. Remember your connecting a computer to a cable that has a circuit board in the plug that then connects to the bike computer, they all need to connect and agree if ones not happy nothing happens. Try unplugging then reconnecting everything in different orders. I think I usually plug in the bike to the cable (blue LED on cable plug comes on, check this). Start Tune ECU and the plug in the USB to computer.

There's a flashing Red Light bottom right that goes orange then green eventually. Sometimes it fails on orange, sometimes it just doesn't connect, change the order of connecting the three items often fixes.

3. Sometimes the cheap cables are a bit dodgy.

4. If your battery is a bit down it will also not connect properly.

5. Clean the connector on the bike.

It can be really frustrating, what I would recommend is downloading and reading through the Tune ECU manual for the Driver install.

It may even be worth finding your local computer geek, computer literate kid, or any young guys who hot up Ricers as they all be pretty savvy with this type of software, as its similar to many car programs, and will usually help out happily.

Persevere, its worth it, I promise you

But I still managed to pull it off with the Android version
I am slowly getting the hang and I mean s.l.o.w.l.y . I bought a Windows lap top loaded the tune ecu and then disabled it from the tinternet , so none of my granny astronaut **** can corrupt my sweet innocent ECU ! I have got the hang of error codes , resets and balancing but have yet to delve into the world of tuning . Only taken me a year thus far ! we don't like to rush things down yer n debun !

I bought the android version as well. Do you have to download any drivers with this version and did you use the bluetooth connection?

I plugged in the Lonelec cable and the Samsung tablet recognized & connected to the cable. When you plug into bikes ecu and pull up TuneEcu it will ask if you want to allow Bluetooth. You have to choose NO. If you choose yes it will not allow the tune to upload (you have already downloaded your tune into TuneEcu at this point)

I would love to find another member anywhere in the state, or neighboring state who comprehends tuneecu, I would ride anywhere within reason to tap thier knowledge, lol.
try giving adam/kyle a call over at 2guyes garage

I really had a hard time getting all this to work also. (windows 7, laptop) I ended up uninstalling tune ecu and the drivers then downloading them again all to a single folder on my desktop. I needed to turn off internet along with security and firewalls. Then I had to manually install the drivers. Went back out hooked it up to the r14r for the thousandth time and it all came together.
Installed the tune hanso had sent me. Now I'm grinning ear to hear every time I twist the throttle.
