How to TuneECU Video

If you chose to have the bike dynoed, Power Tripp is the best that I know of. Just 20 min south of Birmingham, AL.
The man is awesome. He will work with the way the bike runs the best and not with what anyone thinks it should run. I cant remember how much but I think it was less than $400. It was worth every bit of time and money. I would not let anyone else mess with my bike.
 
A big +1 for PowerTripp. Wayne is a scholar and a gentleman and will do the right thing, even when he is out of pocket by it.
 
Maybe I should video what I'm doing at the moment...pulling the 20226 map off the bike after dealer put the TORS and cat box eliminator on the bike. Hmmmmm

Even worse...they put the original 20226 back on the bike. I thought they'd simply not put a tune on it.

I love mechanical stuf, but loath playing with computer software. Even though I bought a cable to communicate with my bike and thought I was going to do the Tune ECU thing I've decided I don't have the time, nor do I feel confident enough to mess with my R3's electronics. I'm saving up for a PCIII(I don't want a PCV. Save your breath), tripple K&N's(under bearclaw), and a custom dyno tune. Then I'll be able to ride with confidence knowing my trusted shop did everything by the numbers and I can just enjoy the results. I'll just stick to working on old hot rods.

What is wrong with the 20226 tune ? I have it on my 2006 standard. I have cat eliminator and a mix of TOR and Standard pipes. I Get Dyno 120 HP and 136 TQ at 2,800 feet elevation. Please fill me in on something better to replace this tune.

The stock 20226 is for TORs and cat bypass. The main thing wrong with it is that it closes the secondaries in the peak torque rpm region. The following link takes you to a thread with posts by me, the second of which shows dyno runs with 20226 and 20050DynoFinalMap_TOR_CatBypass_Decel which is a tune created by Wayne MacDonald, developer of Tuneboy for this exhaust setup:

You can see the big dip in the torque curve between 2500-3000 rpm with 20226.

So, get TuneECU, get the cable, load the cable drivers, connect to the bike, and download that tune. But first, right click the O2 sensor box at the bottom left and disable (uncheck) it. Then download the tune. You won't be sorry. At about 4500 ft elevation, I got about 140 hp and 150 ft lbs.

On the other hand, the day I had those dyno runs, I drove home with 20226 loaded and couldn't tell the difference. So, the moral is, if you want to get noticeable increases in power, you have to have more than just TORs/cat bypass.
