How much do you pay for insurance for 2500cc?

Guess I am a new rider, so to speak.. That is why the cost. How long, you all, have been riding and having an insurance?

Florida, nothing, not required
The minimum levels of financial responsibility required if you are found at fault in an accident are:
  • $10,000 for bodily injury liability for one person injured in a crash.
  • $20,000 for bodily injury liability per crash if multiple people are injured.
  • $10,000 for property damage liability per crash.
Failure to prove financial responsibility after an at-fault accident can lead to the suspension of your driver's license, motorcycle endorsement, and registration for up to three years.

Well, my registration renewal specifically says " proof of insurance not required " never been asked when I registered any bike, ( 5 currently registered), and when a cop pulled me over for 84 in a 55, he asked for insurance card, I said my registration form specifically says no proof of insurance required, he said never mind.
When I looked up the law, it said " insurance or proof of financial responsibility ", but it's Florida, no one really cares. I'm in a rural area, people drive around without plates.
I was at the bar one time, a sheriff car pulled in, the cop left his car running, had a couple beers. He was looking at my side car rig, he said them plates look kinda old, ( NY 2014 plate), I said I don't go far, just down to the bar for a few beers. He said " you'll be awl- rite, keep the beer cold" and went back on patrol. God I love Florida.
PS: I can cover those numbers, no problem, and a motorcycle isn't a car, pretty unlikely to injure someone else.
PPS: funny, coincidentally I finally registered the side car day before yesterday, after 7 years riding around with an expired NY plate. And this year is the first year I registered the Rocket, it's been here 4 or 5 years, because I'm planning on taking it out of state.
PPPS: I got a written warning for 84 in a 55, he only wrote me 29 over because 30 over is a misdemeanor, he wouldn't be allowed to let me off with a warning.

You are correct, you don't have to carry it by law. But, I am saying, in case of an accident where you are found at fault, it might be financially devastating. The minimum numbers I posted would be required from the party at fault to submit to the injured party. This doesn't even include $ you might need to make yourself whole from the same accident.

So, the way it works, if you are at fault, the state of FL will send you in a few weeks a demand to show financial responsibility ('cause you'd lack an insurance company that would generally receive this letter, so it would be mailed to you).

You should either deposit this money with the state or state approved bond company.

If you hit a pedestrian, you need to bond $10K. If you hit multiple people $20K total for all. If you hit a car/motorcycle, no injuries, $10K. If you hit a car/motorcycle with a single person injury, $20K. If one car/moto and multiple injuries, $40K. It doesn't mean that all this money will be spent on payments, the state simply just wants to see that this money, that the money is available in a bond for this case to go forward. Or, it will suspend your license and etc. However, the total payment may WELL exceed these limits. As the injured party might sue for $100K. Again, these limits are just would need to be bonded to state ASAP.
