How difficult?

WTF, its a piece of cake but why there is no tools to hold the opposite end of the axle in the oterwise outstanding tool kit. If you are lucky enough to have the allen wrench (the rear is about a 17mm) you may have the 19mm it takes to remove the front axle. Don't even think you can get them off, or retourqe without this clever tool. Someone had their head way up when they dreamed this one up. A road side flat will ceartainly render you helpless. I have a 35 year collection of tools and don't have anything close to the size it takes to remove either axles.. Correction I do now have the tools but it shortened up my wallet by 50 bucks..........Thanks again Bloor

-----Have you tried the back end of the spark plug socket in that swell tool kit???

I plan on purchasing a metric bolt with a head size the slips in the axle end. At the same time, get the metrix hex nut that fits the bolt & have a friend weld the nut on the bolt after deciding how long you want the tool to be (cut of excess length if needed). Slip the head of the bolt into the axle end and hold the other end with the proper size metric wrench. Not as spendy. Throw it in with the other misc tools a veteran rider would usually not be caught on the road without.

No tools in my kit work, but then again I have got the California emissions bike. The smog just turns the tires to hard rubber there, right!!

Avon calling

Link Removed Tried to order the Avon tire and it's on back order for 3 weeks. Back to the straw fiber Metzler. I really wanted to try the Avon just to see how it would last... oh well I'll try it in a couple of months I guess

Like everyone has mentioned, its not hard at all. (Thats what she said) But be sure you torque the rear axle nut to 81 ft. lbs. or you might cause bearing problems.

I'll go with a Metzler rear this next time since my front tire still has alot of life left, but next time, if I can find the Avons at a decent price, I plan on trying them.

Thanks all for the thought of securing the front wheel and just lifting the rear.. That's one of those "duhh? shy didn't I think of that?" ideas.
