Congrats on the new bike! Looks like you have the Touring? I rode mine for several yrs always with the windshield on and never needed the backrest, Once I got the Roadster and put on the fly screen the backrest became much appreciated on the long rides.

If you can find the Triumph Long-Haul Saddle and it's companion backrest on E-bay, as I did, that's the way to go. I found them 4 years ago and paid for the combination - less than I would have paid for the saddle itself.
I have been in contact with Utopia. They have a back rest for the R3 Classic but not the Tourer. Ill be sending them a spare Tourer seat to see if they are the same. If not he may do a R/D project and make one up for the Tourers.
I need to get more familiar with this bike. For years I was used to wrestling my Venture around turns so I found myself doing the same with the Rocket. Thats not a good thing. This bike handles so much nicer then my old Venture. Thats going to take some getting used to. You cant just "power" yourself out of a turn with this bike, but I think you all know what I mean......
