2009 Triumph Rocket 3 Touring
left side.jpg right side.jpg right side.jpg Hey Gang,
I have a 2009 Rocket 3 touring I picked up in December. I was readjusting the highway pegs yesterday and couldn't get them even, one leg was bent more than the other when resting my feet on them. No matter the angle or adjustment I made. Then I discovered the right side highway bar was not positioned the same as the left side. The right side is farther back, to the point it is about and 1 1/2' away from the cut out in the rad housing cover. Is This normal?? I inspected the bar itself for damage as a result of being perhaps hit and pushed back but saw no evidence. I thought perhaps I can take it off to inspect further, however, I loosened the bottom two bolts and tried to loosen the top bolt but even with an impact I was unable to get it to budge.
Questions:
-are all right side bars like this?
-suggestions for bolt removal?
-if mine is in fact bent, suggestions on bending back to normal?
-chances of finding a replacement?
I've attached pictures for some clarity

Bars on my 2010 Touring are even, 1/2" or so off the mesh radiator side guard

I can't really tell from them pictures. could you back a way a little? if not check the lower radiator mounts they bend easily.
Another way to make sure is measure to something else that's on both sides of the bike like upper crash bar to upper shock mount. The lower might not be feasible to the upper mount but there should be something you can reference on the bottom like front of the floor boards (better with something further back though).
bolt well screw the impact the bolt is so long it is probably springing in a twist like a torsion bar on a truck. Try a wrench and socket and make sure the engine is supported. when going back in you should be able to freely move the upper engine mount bolt before you tighten it. if not you'll be wondering why the bike is acting like its dog tracking.
Kevin pointed out heat ,I am pointing out if so engine Paint burn. I would buy a new bolt and cut that feller off before I put a torch near it, If decide torch roll the bike out of your garage first :D

I’d put some heat and some type of blaster spray on those bolts, they will break but if you used an impact gun and didn’t break you may be ok but heat them up, somebody may have used a red loct tite or the wrong kind of anti seize some of that stuff hardens like cement

Touring or Tourer? It can get pretty specific around here.:roll::D. If it's the old style bendy guards you can bend them by hand or by resting you feet on the new hiway pegs.

That's why I went with Rivcos on my 07 Classic Tourer. The OEMs were flimsy junk back then. I was amazed that Triumph would manufacture rubbish like that.

When I got my 05 it had the old flimsy guards on it and the guy just gave me highway pegs so after I had the bike awhile I put the highway pegs on. Then I realized why the weren't mounted. LOL bent like rubber.

I dropped my Classic twice, once while riding cross country and didn't get the kickstand down all the way and another time when I had a "get off" while slowing down at a stop sign. The Rivco bars worked as advertised with only some very minor cosmetic damage. Floorboard and bar end scuffed a tiny bit.

The ones on my Touring are great, funny, like a lot of things, now I can't remember if it came with them, or I added them, hard to believe it's been 10 years. Only new bike I ever bought, and now it's a 10 year old bike.
