Howdy. Roll Tide. Are ya in the Mussel Shoals area ? Its a good time to buy with the new ones rolling out. I know Myers Triumph in Asheville,NC has at least one if not two Roadsters.
 
I had an 1800 VTX r model before I got my Rocket. The VTX has 120 lbs of torque and 106 h.p. It is pretty powerful but not on the same universe with the Rocket. The VTX has power in certain rpm ranges. The Rocket has power at every rpm range. VTX was a good ride but I just got bored with it.

Van does have a point. Buying a used Rocket can be like buying a used sports car; there's no telling if the first owner couldn't overcome the urge to see how fast it would go in the first 50 miles and never allowed the rings to correctly seat, causing all sorts of problems down the road. But that being said, Rockets have 2 year transferable warranties, so if you do buy used, there's a good chance you might still have some warranty coverage.

You might also look for a new leftover from the previous one or two years. The price may be the same as buying used (certainly much lower than a new one from the current model year), with the added advantage of a full warranty. This is what I did with my 2009 R3T and I saved thousands.
