Help with tank lift.

Well I hooked up the aux lights yesterday. Lifting the tank was easier than I thought. Thanks for the help !
I did connect everything and secured the tank before I tested the lights. All went well. Adjusting the lights is a pain, but that's due to the design of the lightbar. They are a lot brighter than the ones I've had on other bikes.

Next is the dresser bars this afternoon.
From what I have read, I just need to support the motor to get to the engine bolts. My understanding is that putting the bike on a lift but not lifting it off the ground should be enough to support the motor.

Does that sound right ?

If it is the same as the standard yes. There is a long bolt that goes through the frame and engine cases. I would loosen it and then start lifting the engine with a jack. When the bolt moves freely you know you have the right amount of lift. I also had to remove the radiator shrouds from one side.

9er is correct. You may want to know that even when the bike is supported and the thru bolt has no pressure on it you may still need a drift pin and a dead-blow hammer to get it moving. I've installed several and all but one needed a bit of assistance to move all the way out. If you rteally got to wack it something is not ligned up but a tap or two is not out of the question. If it stops, like mentioned, look at the other side of the bike. The bolthead can get hung up on the rad shroud, but not on every bike.
