I can't understand the last sentence at all.
As in my 1st post
I can't understand the last sentence at all.

I have ordered a kit the helicoil come with a tang which requires leaving a required gap at the bottom when inserted to allow it to be broken off which I wasn't to happy about and which came in different lengths so I counted the depth of thread on the bolt and I ordered length 2d which apparently when fitted has 10 threads, I'm handy but abit nervy about this if I'm honest with it being were it is, I'll take some pics of the kit when it arrives over the nxt few days meantime I'll try to find someone who has some experience which is hard to come by round these parts

Thinking about as it never pulled the complete thread out but just backs off when tightning was down to the modded earth strap and washer to stop it turning when tightening which blew the thread as I gave it the recommended torque... he says now
The one I use has 8threads but it does not matter
When you Tap till it gets tight (as far as you can get) then (I would recommend) grinding the yip off 1/16 to get an extra thread. Installing the coil you don't take it down as far as you can you just take it down till it just clears the surface this leaves you room to break off the tab. You can use a drill that will work perfectly. To get the broken tab out use a small magnet or put thick grease on the end of the drill

If you have to do this with out experts then I would advise you to get a piece of aluminum and practice some to get the hang off it helicoils are cheap motors expensive.

I would grind the tap 1/16 so to get one more thread
This might be already posted

That sounds doable I was thinking it had to be as deep as possible and the worry was having room to break that tang off, that's taken the heat off a little thanks again for the support

Thanks to all that posted and a big shout out to turbo200r4 for the pause!! and helpfull pointers, I squared the motor up and inserted a bolt either side as mentioned then made a skid to run the drill in, tapped it then had the dye tip machined of which was priceless🍻 explained in a moment, this is were the polock admission kicks in lol I recieved the helicoil kit which came with an 8.4mm drill bit I was sure it was 8.3mm most of you know what the reason is and for those who don't... Well I Googled it and it came back as a yes you can only really I should have checked the conversion chart🫣 low and behold it states 8.3 for ally and 8.4 for steel😱 too late, I done a torque test on the with the 8.4mm and 8 threaded coil which was solid enough but decided on using 10 threads and a slightly longer bolt as I didn't want to be trying to bump start it surrounded by a 5ltr puddle of motul
Keen to get out for a test ride and see how the new gearbox stacks up🚀
