Hanso/Tripp R3T derestricing/anti-Decel pop tune review.

Good day all, @Joesmoe loaded a new tune in Brahma this weekend for me. @HansO sent him two new tunes after Joesmoe's bike was sending out too many fuel fumes via the exhaust. This was noticed while at Mayberry days.

From what Joesmoe tells me, these tunes started with the R3T de-restricting tune Wayne Tripp created and leans the fuel some below 3,000 RPM. (please correct me if I am wrong). I am running the tune to decrease deceleration popping, (not that I mind it but Pretty Pillion does). So far, I like this tune a lot. Here are my seat-of-the-pants observation:

1. It sounds and feels like a smoother idle. Is that a big deal? Maybe not but something I noticed right after the computer work and 12 minute tune.
2. Shifting is smoother. That split second between shifts seems to flow nicer now and power coming on is smoother and quicker than before.
3. Acceleration is smoother and faster in all gears now. I have not checked the RPM ceiling yet but the bike feels much better on launch and passing.
4. No deceleration popping at all. It is all gone. I do sense that the engine does not slow the bike as well as it did before but it is not big issue. I have not took it to the twisties yet where I rely most on that slowing effect, but I think it is easy enough to adapt to as it is only a slight difference.

I will write more as I learn more but so far, I had one of the best commutes to and from work yesterday that I have enjoyed in a good while.

After 5 days, I am quite happy with this tune. It does well in cool temps with low and high humidity and well as moderate temperatures. I am well pleased with how much smoother the engine is now. It does not have to engine braking ability as before but that is simply a matter of getting accustomed to the new feel. I do not have the worry of maximum thrust that @BillB had warned me of, but the improvement is noticeable and welcome.
This morning was a fun test on my daily commute. As rode up behind a Dodge Durango with SRT-8 badging, (I didn't know dodge made those) anyway, the girl would not move over to let me pass. So when the opportunity arose, I moved right to pass her. She then sped up to the speed I was cruising at (80ish) giving me the idea that she was not going to let me pass her on the right. Up ahead was a slow mover in my lane so I cracked the throttle a good whack to get ahead of her and felt the new thrust come on. Well SRT-8 lady decided to show me I was not going to get away with that. Let me stop here and say that the big Dodge can really move when motivated. Listening to its intake next to my head is pretty nice. My guess is, Brahma's secondaries opened or some sort of speed deity blessed me about them with a sudden increase in power. The needle passed 100 pretty quick and then 120. Dodge lady slipped behind me yet I could hear her Hemi sucking in gobs of air. I then changed lanes to avoid the slow mover ahead and continued to pull away from the jerk.
I have ridden at 120mph previously but do not recall hitting it as fast as I did this morning. It is a cool 60F and an absolute joy to blast through the pre-dawn air while not being beat by a road hog.

I want that tune!

I too, have a tune similar to everything you've mentioned, even though mine is a 2011 R3R, I've experienced all of the same results. Very Happy with this Tune I got from HansO.

@rocketjohn Just say the word. When do you want to get together -- hopefully before the snow flies.

I can install just need it in the usual packaged file, assuming it's in TuneECU format!

@TheWhingnut and @rocketjohn and @Boog (and whoever else would like to participate) perhaps we could have Rocket Maintenance Saturday up here -- I have the TuneECU on computer and cable, and make it happen. I have the hardcopy shop manual that covers through '14.
