Should we be concerned about our bikes being hacked as it is certainly concerning reading this article. Could Your Car Be Responsible For Your Next Data Leak?
My 2013 Roadster should be safe (I think) but I'm not too sure about my Explorer as it has got all sort of electronics
Not concerned at all about being hacked. Bikes or cars. Our old Rockets don't have any WIFI or Blue Tooth broadcasting/receiving capabilities that I know of. And new Triumph seam to come with locked ECU. If you use your smart phone / computer downloading tunes I suppose it could be corrupt and cause trouble, but I have not heard of something like that ever happened.
Has anybody heard of something like that happening ?
On the 2.5L I'd me more worried that the (I think optional) connectivity pack means a lot of stuff is getting stored (for you ) in the cloud. And let's be clear - if you can go later and see where you've been and how fast - So can anybody else who really wants to. If you use Google-Maps you're stuffed anyway.
But I'd not leave the Bluetooth TuneECU adapter attached if I were you. Bluetooth is NOTORIOUSLY easy to hack.
I was also thinking that if the cops wanted to fine you for speeding, they may go through you bike's computer and tell you that you have been speeding there, there and there so there goes your life savings to government revenue.
Here in Oz they use any excuse to rip us off, "in the name of safety"
developing hacks takes time and resources. Got to be a return for hackers. More likely for popular cars (lots of targets) enabling hackers or there sponsors to create a bigger threat.
Imagine top 10 cars being hacked simultaneously on a large highway intersection.
Imagine a foreign intelligence service having backdoors into car systems, then losing the passcodes to enemy. It would not be the first time
