I have the cable to hard wire the GPS power but it is for a car Can I hook it up on the bike the same way by just splicing into a power and ground wire I know this seems like a dumb question but I just want to make sure, other than the heat might effect it but under the tank it shouldnt get too hot. Thanks

I have my ZUMO (Garmin) 550 hardwired and threaded on top of all of the loom under the tank. been there two years and no trouble with wire/insulation.

My NUVI (car gps) wiring might not like it but another story.

When I ran the 660 on my Roadster I lifted the tank and checked the various unused connectors under there until I found one that powered on and off with the key (my preference). That way I didn't have to cut into any wires. May have been the heated grips circuit?? Ran it that way problem free for ~3 years.

Edited to add if I don't have a matching connector (rarely do) I cut one leg off a spade connector to push into bike's connector.
