and what a difference. I had only gone around 2 corners and onto the freeway ramp and I knew I had made the right choice.
I have 20000 klms on the bike now and in the last few thousand klms, I could really feel the old springs wallowing.

The new suspension is better for the bike in every way. Just rolling along it feels smoother and when I hit the bumps ,I no longer have to brace myself for the shock up my spine and the feeling you may get bounced out of the seat.
Ive only been back into bikes for a few months and the springs have given me new confidence to choose a faster line around a bend.

I also went 1/2 inch over stock length to give me a fraction more leg room and chose the heavy duty versions.
I went with 20 weight oil in the forks and all is fine. The dealer was a little sceptical about 20 but was happy with test ride.

I havent played with the settings yet,Ive left it on the softest setting and it seems ok. Next week Ill try something a bit more challenging and go from there.

Thanks to the forum members who swayed me towards the 440s,it a great to be able to make the right choice 1st up :smoking:

What Nox said. Comfort and confidence in the bike's abilities equate to safety and the freedom to concentrate on the little old man in the hat turning left in front of you.

Please remind us of your size/weight.

I am glad you like your new shocks. Although I fail to see how longer shocks can give more leg room as the distance between the seat and foot pegs is fixed and does not change regardless of how long or short the shocks are. They may give you a little more ground clearance when cornering.

The main thing is your more comfortable.

Oh well ,I guess I fawked up in the leg room bit.

Yup those OE springs go dangerously soft over time....Interesting that you use 20 Wt. oil in the forks...

I thought 20 was what some of the owners on here had used,I forget who(I thought you were one). Ive tried hard braking on the front and other tests and I wont be changing it,very happy

how much ?????:Tip-Hat:

I forget the exact amount as I paid the money in 2 payments and there were some other bits and pieces I bought for a firend,Im guessing the rears were about $700-800.
I had originally been given the price of the cheapest Progressives (412s) when I spoke to them on the phone
I didnt think about ordering over the web,I go all gaga when Im in an accessory shop:shock:

See-now Ive been interested in better shocks like the prog 440's and willing to (eventually) spend the money, but my fear is that I can barely touch the ground now with the front part of my foot! which is very annoying by the way.. so you all seem to like more leg room, I'm thinking holy crap, I'll never touch the ground even on my tippy toes!
