is there any reason why i couldnt change out the crappy "heel/toe" gearshift on my classic for the r3t(this being a 2 piece arrangement)or even the "normal"one fitted to the "standard"r3 ?
The dealer, (as much as I trust a dealer), told me the new heel/toe shifter off the Touring model would work on my 07 R 3. I haven't tried it because I just changed the shifter peg for a longer one and I like it better.
Longer as in toe catch! I bought a Kuryakyn which is longer, then drilled out the original shifter and put the Kuryakyn on it. It is much easier to shift with it on there. Marcus, I had the heel/toe shifter on my bike, then found for some reason that the Rivco heel/toe shifter seemed to make the bike hang and not shift well into second and it would slip out of second gear. I was afraid I had the horrendous second gear tranny problem! But when I removed the heel/toe shifter and put this part on, no more problem with the bike popping out of second gear! Odd, I know, but it works! :?
I am also interested an "adjustable" heel/toe shifter for my Classic. The R3T shifter appears to be more adaptable than the Rivco to floorboards. Has anyone noticed the shifter on the Classic in the "Triumph Accessories Selector" on the Triumph site. When you click the "show bike" button the Classic on the left appears to have what I am looking for. Has anyone seen a shifter like this in the real world?
If you try the R3T shifter let me know how it goes. At this point with foot flexibility issues I have even considered going with a Pingel electric shifter even though it is pricey.
I just got the classic floorboards for my r3 standard..... I really wanted the heel-toe shifter from the Touring ( the heel shifter is a better design that gives me more room for my giant foot)
I was told that it would be amazingly difficult to put the Touring shifter on the standard...... any thoughts? has anyone tried?
