I wouldn't call them far surperior if they delaminate weather they handle better or not I'd prefer the tire that holds together
I can't really answer yet as I have a few more to try especially the Shinko Podium 130/60ZR17 W rated with the Conti Race Attack on 240/40ZR18 on the rear for LSR Racing. On the street I do like the cobra but would probably will opt for the Michelin Commander II 140/75/VR17 for normal Highway cruising along with the Bridge Stone Exedra Max on the rear.

Yeah I actually had an Michelin on order when the last Shinko failed but due to the fact that they were not available here yet at the time (there had been some delay in them landing here in Auss) and I was en-route coming home from Hervey Bay and could only get the Avon so I will stck with it but will possibly look at the Michelin Comander II next for comparsion with the Avon which while I am happy with its handling in normal riding conditions it doesnt inspire me to push it going up or down the the Mtn

But I will stick to what I said about the Shinko it was a fantasic handling tyre it is just a shame it was flawed in the load handling department and even when it delaminated it happened with enough warning so as that I merely took it carefully over 100km to Sydney

Exedra Max in the rear and the other than stock size Michelin Commander II 140/75/VR17 up front- a great combination!!!

Hey Phil any chance of a picture of the front tire mounted on bike I would like to see what sort of gap we end up with between guard and tyre:)

T'Bird had a Commander II fitted to the rear at Joe's yesterday. Apparently a lot of T'Birds going this way - it's a 200/55 as opposed to OEM 200/50 Metz. Sound familiar? There surely is something wrong with the thinking behind the standard offerings for both bikes in terms of brand and size.

Rear Metzler- Front rear Birdgstone tyre.

I don't know why but I have used 2 Metzler rear tyres and have travelled over 35,000 kilometres. I run a constant 45 psi in both front and rear, to compensate for my weight 137 Kg's.

I didn't like the handling of the Metzler front tyre no matter what pressure I ran in the tyre, the tyre wear was shocking, got good mile but even with a heap of tread left the front Metzler was unserviceable.

I know our rockets are heavy bikes 367 kg dry weight, with me on board around 500 kg. I just can't bring my self to believe the irregular tyre wear of the front Metzler is due to the camber of the road only.

Apparently there is a harder compound a constructed tyres by Metzler's ME888. I would like to know when will Australia get them or are we being used to get rid of the SH*T tyre compound.

After talking to the RDU boys on more than one occasion next tyre change will be Bridgestone rear, need more information before deciding front tyre.

I think i am just hard on tyres:rolleyes:, i got about 5500klms from the Mets rear, and lots of smoke towards the end:eek:
