Front page today's Wall Street Journal: Harley new rider school

My material is in the classroom at the college where I teach the course, but I will get the information you are after, one point I would like to make is that the BRC(basic rider course) is nothing compared to what the UK and Australia require you to go through before getting a motorcycle license .

The course we used was a large practice pad on the dealer's property. The bikes were locked in such a way as not to go above second gear, but with that you could zoom around the course perimeter in about 30 seconds if you were flat out wailing on the throttle. And they let us do some of that! Virginia DMV's test for the U turn has lanes for under 500cc and over 500cc. You can make a wider uturn with a bigger bike. At the HD course there's was no differentiation, it was a tight turn, but by the time we had to demonstrate for a grade we were pros.
