Front Dresser Bars

New Triumph OEM

Thanks for the reply & update on your new dresser bars, I hope you never have to put them to the real test but they look and from the description sound like what I want to replace my first or old ( OEM ) bars with. Did you do some comparison shopping ? Is that a good deal compared to your local dealer? If so , who is the internet Triumph dealer ? Thanks & Merry Christmas !

Tbucket, yes I did research the bars before I bought them. I checked with the local dealership (150 miles away) and they were interested in getting the new style bars for me (at msrp) but would have to order them (at least two weeks out for delivery). Then there would be sales tax and freight to me. End cost somewhere around $250.

At that point I researched the web and found a dealership selling on the internet for several brand name bikes. I purchased the bars for $192.95 all in from gengrasmotorcycles.com located in East Hartford CT. They had the new style bars in stock and shipped same day. I am very pleased with the bars, prompt shipping, communication to advise when the item was shipped......SB

Thanks for the info. Silverbullet, sounds like it was well worth the research for the savings , especially if you have a dealer that wont ship to you. A 300 mile roundtrip in fuel factored in , definetly bumps the cost of the bars up there. I will be checking your connection out.
 
Article and Pics on Front Dresser Bar Installation

I installed my front dresser bars (revised better Triumph kit) last night. Article and pictures are at this location on my blog. I didn't like the removal and re-insertion of that big front engine bolt at all, but I got 'er done. Mine cost the $230 MSRP, bought them at the counter from EuroSport Cycle in Fort Worth where I bought the bike a few months ago.
 
Not sure how I missed this post in the past, but I originally had the first set of OEM "dresser" bars installed when I bought my Rocket in 07. They did appear flimsy but were never tested (took them off and they are now in my motorcycle storage shed). When the new "sturdier" dresser bars came out I went ahead and purchased them. I have mounted both the Kuryakin highway pegs and when my new "adjustable" Triumph highway pegs finally came in last year I changed them out (the Kuryakin pegs are also in my storage shed). The Triumph bars do appear to be sturdier and the adjustable highway pegs (with the "required" mounting kit) made access for my short stumpy legs pretty easy and comfortable and they are really adjustable.

I have pics of both set ups in the photo album if anyone wants to see what they look like.

I got the new front dresser bars after a mounting on the old ones cracked. My dealer recommended them over the Rivco bars, which he has also mounted on many Rockets.
 
There is certainly a world of difference there.

Can't believe the initial design ever got through QA with Triumph...I suspect they only changed it when Rivco started taking up all the market share with their beefy high-end version.

I'm constantly amazed at the massive delta between things Triumph puts astonishing care and quality into and the things they just half-ass. Like those stock chrome-plated plastic mirrors. It's like they can't do anything moderate...everything on the bike is either top quality or absolute junk.

Fortunately for us, all the really important parts are top quality.
