Does anyone know enough about the rear brake recall procedure and whether that work can impact the front brakes? After the service I now have to pump the hand brake for it to work. Dealer says there is no way what they did could have impacted the front brakes.

In the recall the Dealer is supposed to purge the system of air whilst the ABS system is activated to open the ABS circuit.

I would say the screwed something up BADLY when they attempted to bleed the system.

To answer your question - YES the front and rear brakes are linked.

Thanks for the note. I thought that I had read that somewhere.

Of course the mechanic caused it and the shop should fix it, and not as a warranty claim.
You should learn from this that the Dealer is both incompetent and a liar. Find somewhere else to take the bike if you can. And drop a line to Triumph about it. Warranty claims are great but at the end of the day we all pay for them.
