Front brake banjo bolt questions

I just received a pair of very wonderful FlipMeister brake cable clamps for my Rocket 3. However, the right front brake line's banjo bolt was installed "danger close" to the fender. I would like to loosen this banjo bolt just enough; so that I can move it (and the connecting brake line) away from the fender, and position it correctly for FlipMeister's brake line clamp.

My question is; will I need to prepare to re-bleed this caliber after loosening and tightening the banjo bolt? I've never fooled with banjo bolts before; and want to have all of my stuff ready in case bleeding is required.

If I loosen it slightly (just enough to swivel the banjo bolt outwards), will there be brake fluid loss?

If you loosen it just a little you should be o.k. Just enough to move the fitting is all then retighten. You may loose a drop but you should be O.K. I had to do the same thing and all was well w/ mine. Dont touch the brake lever when the bolt is loose or you will suck in air into the line and you will have to bleed the system....... otherwise you should be O.K. not to have to bleed it.

You should be changing brake fluid every year so perhaps, if you haven't done it yet, you can take this opportunity to do so.

I did change my brake fluid out in both brake systems when I first got the Rocket. It's an '08 and I bought it in '09. The fluid was a dark yellow and I did not like that; so completely flushed it with a vacuum bleeder from Harbor Freight; and filled up with DOT 4. Now it's nice looking. ;-)

Just was wondering if I needed to ready the vacuum bleeder again.

Well, these brake line brackets went on without a hitch. Lost a little brake fluid from the left banjo bolt, but not enough to compromise the integrity of the brake system. Didn't lose any brake fluid from the right banjo bolt at all....

Probably. I think the spec on the R3 calls for DOT 5 fluid. I could be wrong though, check the manual.

What am I missing here? Why are these brake cable clamps needed? I'm not really sure why the stupid plastic stock brake line holders are even needed at all!.
Are we afraid the brake line will whip back and forth and damage the fender?
