Failed motorcycle road test today

I had no choice Mittzy all the cones weren't spread any further apart for me .everbody else was on 400cc and 600cc Honda motor cycles that belonged to to the the company doing the testing .doing figure eights was a bit awkward but once I got the hang of it I even started enjoying it
 
Practice brother, lots of practice. Do it on your Rocket as it will only make you a better rider. Everyone has given excellent advice here and I reccomend you do one of the MSF courses, then do more practice of the Rocket. Last weekend I did a slow speed race against Harleys and a few Stars. I didn't win, but doing it on uneven grass helps to give one an appreciation to both how heavy a Touring is and how important rear braking and clutch work is. Pracitce....
 
As I recall, been a few years, the box gets adjusted here for the bike's turn radius. That means that it's just as hard for all bikes - ie, all bikes have a "box" that's as wide as its minimum turn radius plus a little bit of play. That doesn't penalize riders on bikes that turn wider.
 
I go to the empty MSF course set up at the beginning of each season (and usually once in the middle) just to practice my slow speed and brake/maneuvering work. Believe it or not it comes in handy besides just in parking lots. The point, as others have said, is to get used to your balancing. Using your hips to do the slaloms rather your hands, shifting your hips for the figure 8's, keeping your eyes through the turn rather than in it. All of these things translate to high speeds as well, but are often forgotten (though more critical) in slow speed conjested situations. Highly recommend the MSF course for you (even the one day advanced), you'll be amazed at how quickly you conquer that test! And on the Beast as well!!
 
The course here is tight. In fact I even tried walking the Rocket round the u-turn box and on full lock and leaning over as far as I was game it still went outside the lines by about a metre. Impossible to ride it (without smoking the rear - and I'm pretty sure that would be frowned on). The cone weave can only be managed on such a big bike if you enter the start of it at exactly the right angle. Hardly matters though - LAMS is alive and well and learners generally are on 250s.

Several car parks around Canberra have been marked out with the license course and on any weekend you will see a group of generally young learners there practicing - and sometimes a few experienced riders offering advice and support. Bloody good if you ask me.
 
Mully, you're just too ***in soft mate. Feeling embarrassed and stuff, we'll you deserve it! What sort of a real man .....
 

I could do that course if they wouldn't mind setting all of the cones back up afterwards.
I touched the line on the right hand turn. Was lucky to get a laid back instructor that passed me. The course was too tight for the Rocket.
 
Cant believe i got no bites for giving Mully **** about not being able to do the impossible.
