I have just been forced to change out the rear tire on my 14 r3r at 4300 miles. OK I realize the way I drive is probably the cause, but I have concerns. The front is also almost slick and on the right side. I know the OEM tires are not the best, but I always got 2 to 1 rear tire wear on other bikes and the on camber (left) side of each tire wore first. No I'm not just riding with the right butt cheek on the seat. Do I need to see a dealer about this or just buy better rubbers?

G'day Wannbe,
Interestingly my R3R is wearing the same way on the RHS of the rear it's almost slick but the rest of the tyre is ok. My bike has only done 9,000km's. I'll be interested in what the experts have to say as this bike is new to me and I've only done 500km's myself. Still has the original tyre. I will be changing to Exedra when I have some spare cash. Front tyre is ok.
Cheers Jason

Original Metzlers were almost bald at 7000 miles. Replacement Avon Cobras wore better and were a better tire, . At 15,500 I replaced the rear with a Excedra Max. Avon was just hitting the wear bars. Left the front Cobras for now. Surprising fair amount of tread left. I would still be comfortable in the rain. No one likes the original tire.

Hi @Wannbe. I had Metz tyres on for quite a while, somewhere around the 16000km figure but I switched to Avon Cobra up front with a Bridgestone Exedra max on the rear. I am really fussy about my pressures and check and adjust before "every" ride. The latter combination is far superior to the originals and the wear more even and stick like ****e to a blanket. I'm leaving the MT vs CT thing alone as each to his own. Hope this helps.
