I have today fitted a PC8 & headlamp wiring harness from Eastern Beaver. It all works well but when I now start the engine the mileage reading & speedo do not work, & the 2 warning lights for engine fault & for temp/oil stay on. I think I have disturbed something in fitting the harness but I cannot find anything. Any help much appreciated.
Looks like you're missing a ground from the sensor. You can check the wiring diagram page 18.45 to see if that's the problem. The indicator lights (turn signals) use the same ground as the speed sensor (cute). There are several taps along the way. Good Luck at the dealer.
The question is "why" not "who." In my experience the answer is always down to $. It takes less wire to string a bunch of parts together than run seperate wires. Less wires means less wire cover. Less wire and wire cover means less cosmetics to cover the wire and covers. Fewer wires means fewer connectors. So forth and so on until you ultimately arrive at your query, "who's the insane crack addict Bozo during an LSD induced hallucination designed this, and why does he hate me?"
No WHO? - Somehow I think he learned electrics from a book - NOT from using it. I've no issue with splicing earth wires together. But they need to actually earth.
