Hello, i'm a young french R3 roadster owner
I've a question about how you check the engine oil level.
I do like the owner book explain, but I have found no oil on the gauje. I have just ride 350 miles since the 500miles check by triumph. So I add oil to have enough oil between mini and max level. I ride about 70 miles, and when I go home I wait about 1,5 hour and when I check the level, It was very high over the maxi level.
I call my local dealer who said to me that he is doing the oil change, they put the mini oil specified when ride 1 miles and go back to immediately check the level.
Can I know how do you check your oil level ?
Is the difference between the engine oil level engine cold and engine run normal ?
Thanks

Paul is right and shut her down before you check the oil :) Another thing I found that works well is to have a cold one ready to ponder what your about to do and one after for such a fine job!!!!!

It's not a hot/cold thing
Oil seeps back into engine after standing for sometime
so must be run to scavenge sump before checking level
or it will read low.
Mine does anyway.

Thanks for your reply
I think I have found my answer with you and with all the post I have read in this forum about the oil level.
It seems to be a very bad think to do on the Rocket.
And you always find some different idea.
