ok i'm back at the computer now so can post some pics.

I run my bench/R&D engine, a (mostly) 06 Classic engine, with a current Roadster GPS, 2013 Roadster ECU and 2010 Roadster harness. It runs perfect and displays all the gears 1-N-2-3-4-5-6 on the tacho LCD.

So i wouldn't see an issue running a 2010 Touring engine with a 2007 07 GPS, harness, ECU.

Some info on GPSeseses (bear with me);

T1190814 "Old" Rockets GPS (2 wire)

T1290642 Original Roadster GPS (3 wire) (used 2010-2013)

T1296589 Update kit for 2010-2013 Roadsters - contains 4 wire GPS under part # T1290666

Now on the "old" Rockets the GPS pin was sitting in the spool that connects the GPS to the gear selector drum (silver faced yoke below), with a spring behind it to push the pin against the "old" 2 wire GPS;

On Roadsters you don't have that pin and spring setup, the pin is built into the GPS as shown below.
This pin sits into the "yoke" so the selector drum can move the GPS pin around and change the signal the GPS is sending to the ECU.

New vs old

I set a new record after my 3rd rebuild - 5 hours from engine upside down in a crate to full assembly and test riding around the cul-de-sac......since then no thermo fan, the clutch actuator arm bolt vibrated out and yesterday the LHS can literally fell off...next time I'll take 6 hours :whitstling:

The lesson here is don't rush!

I couldn't agree more mr hunt. At the bus garage there were mechanics that thought they made more money by rushing things. Everybody suffered, for mechanics had to fix the "fast mechanics" problems

@R=III-R Turbo dude, you are a very valuable source. Thank you for your time and efforts. Looks like I can pull the pin and spring out of the 07, put it in the 10 and keep the stock connectors. The only problem is that the engine piece sits .100 out of the hole further. I tried it last night and felt no problem. We shall see.
Again, Thanks.....you to Scott

So then some research is needed to see whats changed. Otherwise one can also look at shimming the newer style out. Only three parts involved as I speculate. One being the switch, another the torsional damper cover, or perhaps the aluminum shaft the drives the switch? Eitherway yours is going to work. :)

It might just be that that aluminium shaft needs a shove back inwards.

If you got a hold of it you can just pull it straight out through the GPS hole.. it really is just pushed into place, and held between the GPS and the selector drum

Yes but if he pulls it out of the 10 motor and can't get the split roll pin lined back up he will be splitting the motor. After he gets it up and running he can then fix the trans in the 07 along with a few horse power components :D

So far comparing the sector component list on Hermy's the spring and the pin is the only difference. So I would say your most likely right his 07 selector shaft is not in far enough.
