Help please: I turn the key to on and I have NO lights ( warning) in the insturments or speedo & tack needles don't move, but it will start and then the tack needle will move but NO speedo movement, but now only the tack lights will come on and go off? Once running both insturment work fine. Is there a fix? All fuses look OK. The battery has been replaced this week. Capt. Dan dlbrocker@etcmail.com

Try turning the handlebars from side to side while the key is on and note if there is any change in the symptom...could be your Ignition Switch has a failing connection. My '06 Classic showed similar symptoms just before the Ignition Circuit opened completely. There's several posts here about the ignition problem if you isolate it as the culprit. Good Luck.

+1, my 05 standard also had ignition switch, turned bars left - died.. turned right - started. Had to replace entire ignition switch, but i believe it's generally the solders that are ****e.

#3 and #4 : That didn't work. Nothing changed. Any one else has had the same problem? What about the 3 Relays by the left side panel? Would this be the cluprit? Thanks to anyone with help. Capt. Dan

Deleted my first reply...had a thought, but then thought it through and retracted it. I re-read your post - the bike Starts & Runs but the gauges aren't working properly. Certainly sounds like a connection problem somewhere but upon reflection, I don't think there are that many different wires coming off of the switch.

There's a wiring diagram in the back of the Service Manual...if the failing components can be isolated to a single source feed (relay or connector) you may find the answer by looking there.

Certainly a new one on me - sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Ps: the electronic copy of the Service Manual can be found via a link at the bottom of any of Bishop's posts.

Again, Good Luck.

Thanks Capt. Rich. I'll be trying to locate the problem, if no luck. will take to a dealer or a local mechanic. Does any one want to buy this monster?? Capt. Dan
