Hi all!
I had a weird issue. Bike wasn't pulling as hard, and a few days later battery died. I jumped it and it ran poorly. Pulled out the multi-meter, and battery was at 12.5v, not perfect, but pretty good. Battery is original on a 2023 with 10k miles. Weather had dropped about 30 degrees over last week. The bike died. I put the NOCO trickle charger on it, but in "supply" mode, so it's supplying 12v via alligator clamps. started the bike, and it was still acting weird, but multimeter was pretty good. 14.4v at high and low rpm. It went a little crazy and died. I kept the multimeter on it and cranked it. Voltage dropped to 6v and it just clicked the starter solenoid. Was acting like a battery with a dead cell. So, my plan at this point:
1. Pull battery, get it bench tested at autozone.
2. Pull reg-rec and test it.
3. replace as necessary.
When I pulled the battery, I noticed the leads from the bike were black. I pulled out a Dremel and cleaned them off. Reconnected everything. Bike fired right up, better than it has in a while. And now it's running great. Multimeter is solid at 14.4v; no parasitic drain. All seems to be well.
So... moral of the story, if you're having electrical gremlins, clean the leads first.
Hope this helps someone having issues. Have a great day, and ride safe!!
