EBC Discs are BILLET Carbon steel - not stainless. So yes they rust. OEM Triumph are Stainless.
If I were the guy in the shop I'd tell you to take a hike. You got what you paid for.
I have one on my spare set of wheels. You can keep the rust at bay with some light phosphate treatment. I have it for refurbishing guns.
Personally I'd rather have carbon steel or cast iron rotors.
Here is my new EBC rear brake rotor. Been on a couple months. Bikes been washed twice, hasn't seen any appreciable rain. Lives inside. Has anyone else tried these ? Did yours look strange where the drill holes are like this one ? I'm going to send it back.
indeed ... you still in spain in the summer of 17?? I intend to take my bike to the border town of saint jean de luz in 2017 for the summer riding the pyrenee and visiting friends in Bilbao and zazuar we could meet and share a cerveza or two..
Tell Triumph, Art. My OEM rotors have surface rust on the area off the braking surface.
Even Stainless discs can rust - and you know it. Ever seen Stainless knives/forks rust in a dishwasher - well they can.
I would trade off a little surface rust for fade free predictable braking in alpine hairpins any day. And - ALWAYS WILL.
I'd far rather have a little rust than discover micro-fractures as I did on the OEM Buell Disc (was a PM iirc) - If I'd had surface rust - it would have formed near the fractures first.
I thought we were all rough tough bikers (I'm most certainly not by the way). Most car brakes rust - but you don't hear the soccer mom's complain - OK Spanish soccer mom's don't.
Drums brakes don't show rust either.
