Is there any type of step-by-step instruction on the H4 relay installation. I've read the instructions on the EB site and checked all the threads. Also, I've read how easy it is from those of you who have already installed. I seem to have a habit of really messing even simple things up. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

if you can do things like replace a battery, headlight bulb, change oil, basic wiring and know what a zip-tie and wire cutters are ... then you can do the job. If not, you might want to either have it done or get physical help doing it.

The instructions are pretty clear, but if yopu run into a problem, just ask. The key is take your time. The OEM connectors should be cut in the headlight shell to remove the old H4 plugs then pull the wiring back to the harness connections (small 4 pin plugs). Then just follow the instructions to install the EB kit. If you want to retain the position light function (flashlight bulbs) then use one small connector with the back and yellow wire to those lights and use the other connector to run the headlights.

As AtomSplitter said...the install is really very easy if you take the time to read the instructions a few times and comprehend what they say. I raised my tank, disassembled the headlights as required, then sat there for a good 1/2 hour just mentally going through the instructions and matching those up with what I saw on the bike.

Not to confuse the matter, though...I do not recall having to cut the H4 terminals off as Atom stated...I simply unplugged the flag-type connectors, and then pulled the old connectors out of the back of the headlight bowls.

The only problem I ran into was trying to figure out what wires to connect the Posi-Locks to, as the instructions were pretty vague. To clarify, you will have to cut the stock connector off (under the tank), and attach the relay Posi-Locks to the wires as specified in the EB instructions.

Once the proverbial light bulb comes on as you read through the instructions and follow the wiring from the headlights back to the harness under the tank....it becomes very easy. And believe me...I'm no wrench or gear-head...just read my posts and idiotic questions I've asked.

And there is a tutorial with great pics on the forum somewhere...I just could not locate it, but I am sure someone can forward the link to you. Good luck and you will be very happy with the results.

My EB relay came with zero instructions.
However, it was VERY easy; no cutting required!!!
  1. Remove headlight lens
  2. Unplug bulb
  3. Fish EB connectors (2) under tank and into headlight bucket.
  4. Plug one EB connector into light.
  5. Plug other EB connector into old headlight connector from bike.
  6. Attach EB hot wire to battery +, and black to ground.
  7. Reinstall headlight lens.
You are done!

Got a question for anybody that might know.
Do the relays have a number on them?
I'm looking to acquire 1, 2 or 3 depending on the need.
In the EB kit, is there 1 relay for both headlights or 2?
being 1 relay for each headlight?

There are 2 relays, one for each circuit (high and low beam). Are you going to roll your own, Skip?

Amazing forum

Thanks to all for the information. The knowledge here and helpfulness is amazing.

Like tdragger said. If you're going to make your own you might want to include the low beam cut-out as well. It's a pretty cool little option for tuning and such.
