While running down the freeway all of a sudden my 06 Rocket missed a few times and the gauges all pegged back and forth several times. I took the next off ramp and when I came to a stop it just died. No lights, gauges or any indication of power. Had to call AAA and have it taken home. Now battery is new and fully charged but still when I turn the key there is no power at all to anything. Is this the ignition problem or do you think that it could be the computer? It was running fine up until the gauges went crazy and the engine began missing.

It is very likely the ignition switch. Turn the key on and move forks back and forth and check to see if you get any lights. If not, lift the tank and wiggle the ignition switch wires.

At one of the RAA Meets a few years back my switch started to act up we did a temp repair and I drove it back to Florida from North Carolina, contacted my local dealer and he arranged for triumph to give me the complete set up (seat lock, gas lock and ignition switch) free of charge for my 2005 bike I had to install it myself but it was easy enough to do.
Okay after all that jibbering - when I received the switch I let it sit in my garage for about a month because my bike was running fine then one day it was doing just as your bike is doing except I could move the wires around and get it started and running for a wee while, I replaced the switch the same day and have not had a bit of trouble since.(effin long story for a short cut:D)

Thanks.

Pulled the tank up and I got lights and gauges by shaking the switch harness. I will replace it with a different system. I have been reading about the fixes and will choose which is best for me. I appreciate the input.

just finished a 2700km round trip to see Casey Stoner rule the aussie Grand Prix , went 20kms to town this morning for an appointment ,when i went to startto come home, things went haywire, engie light stayed on when started would not rev up ,would shutdown and even with the ignition on the speedo would go to about 20km/h while not moving, anyway i worked out that a plug that is integrated into the main earth cable from the battery had fallen apart, it is under the side cover on the left hand side

wire harness

2010 R3R main wire harness, under tank, largest bulkhead connection to ignition switch same problem.Give a wiggle see if lights come one.
