FYI-Cli-MAX has a decent price ($213.90, free shipping) on Progressive 412 rear shocks for anyone who wants to upgrade but doesn't have the bucks for the 440 or any of the other more expensive (and presumably much better) options.

Even though you won't see the R3 listed in the bike options, the Progressive PN is 412-4230C. I wanted an inch lower, so I went with the 11.5" for the VTX 1800. Same part, at least for the R3 Standards and Classics. Not sure about the Roadster or Touring models...
PN 412-4234C for 12" and PN 412-4219C for stock, 12.5".
These are all for the Heavy Duty ones.
For the standard 412s:
PN 412-4202C for 11.5', PN 412-4229C for 12" and PN 412-4209C for 12.5".
