..Me too...i like it better when theres no banging going on.
We split a muffler open on an old petrol powered Austin truck one morning. I was about 19 years old and delivering meat to the butchers early in the morning. A girl was walking a dog on the footpath. There was three of us clowns on the bench seat in the old truck and i turned the key off while the driver pumped the gas pedal...of course when i turned the key on again...KABOOOOM!!!....the girl and the dog came off the ground i swear!!
The muffler split right along the join and we got our bums kicked!
I figure decel pop isnt good for the exhaust system.
All engines decel pop , it's just that the sound is contained within the pipes and dissipated by the baffles . One of the reasons the R3 pipes are so huge ! I get fully where your coming from having the pop tuned out , usually a 5% increase in fuelling at closed throttle , this for one helps cool the headers and in turn cuts down the pop . I am fairly certain tho , that your plugs will show a bias to the rich end of the scale . Not a bad thing , but as Norm points out , not optimal . This had been mentioned before, but short open pipes are also prone to reversion , a much louder flashier type of decel pop . Once again , this is reduced by the adding of fuel and the cooling of the inside of the headers preventing the now oxygen rich fuel mixture detonating from the heat of the headers . Personally , I like the pop and even more so the bright blue flashes that accompany it . I do find it can also be controlled by riding technique if in a sound sensitive area . But on the whole , I like to let her crackle and bang . It's hooligan and yes , I should have grown out of that by now ! :D

I enjoy the popping as well. I put on the tors and crosspipe a couple weekends ago and loaded penners tune and the bike definitely pops alot more on decel but I enjoy it

When I read you gents, I learn. Very cool!
I stay simple for now. I didn’t touch o2 sensor. Didn’t touch muffler. I put the map 20228.
I did 10 km. 130 km/h. Before the 12 min tune.
I have a big nose... and the bike smell better... lol
Apart from the gurus , of which there are a few here , most of us learn what we learn here on this great site . From misfortune to experimentation we all learn from each other and most are head and shoulders above R111 owners who for whatever reason don't use this great place ! Take it slow and glean the information on offer here . It won't be long before you meet another Rocket owner who isn't a member here and you will surprise the hell out of them with your knowledge of all things Rocket . It's bit of a double edged sword tho , coz the more you learn , the more you want to experiment and so the spending starts . Mind you , if you bought a bolt on goody every month , it would probably still have cost you less than having to pay a garage to do every little service item ?

the more you want to experiment and so the spending starts .

......since i bought my bike new Nath, xmas 2016, i think i've probably spent, without actually adding it up dollar by dollar, in the vicinity of $NZ7000.
So now, a new model Rocket comes out. I love the look of it but how does one justify spending more dollars to buy one after spending heaps on the current bike. I will never get it back but wanted the bike to be what i had a picture in my mind of....things we do huh? It does look good and goes real well......until a new one pulls out and breezes past me i suppose!

Well said Tal . You just summed up what so many of us are thinking . I do know tho , that the new Rocket amongst other makes and models , will come out this year . And next year , and the year after . But still , every time you park your rocket up it will attract a crowd of admirers and the longing for a newer better ride , will soon disappear. For a while at least ! Your a top man @Tal .
