DARK SIDE WANA BE

Has any of you Dark Siders tried this Yokahama Advan? I am running 225/55/16. These only come in 225/50/16, a little more low profile. More revs per mile. From 803 to 835 and a tad shorter. Anyone using 225/50s?

They look like a MC tire!

Can't comment on this tire.

I've tried the dark side and didn't like.

However this tire looks so much like a MC tire that if I was going back to the dark side I would definitely try this tire. I imagine it's wider than the 225/55/16... only problem I would see is the tire would rub on the axle housing. ????

For others to reference, that's the A048. There are several models of Advan.

If the Tire Rack specs are correct, it has a UTQG rating of 60???

Others have complained of the tires wearing too fast when the rating is much under 300! The very lowest I've ever heard of a darksider using is 140, and it's very rare to go below 200.

Looks cool… a lot like a MC tire. But I'm thinking with that rating, it may wear as quick as a MC tire too.

Yes and I found the bike handled better with the 225/50 on the classic .
With the 55 it made it a little bit higher in the back end which changed the steering.
I perfected the 50 as I was doing between 1000km to 1500 a day .
Deferent strokes for different folks

The CT 225/55 feels lower mostly because it has more dampening at 30 psi, which is what I'm running. This 225/50 is a road race tire. It should go into corners easier because it so round. Probably loose some wet traction against the Raptor but I avoid rainy riding. If it is pouring, Ill stop or go super slow, abuelo speed :coffee:.
Have an extra rim so might as well have tire on it just to change shoes once in a while with that balancing GUE the Bull posted.
As far as size, it is the same 225 cm wide, just not as tall on the sidewall.

Back on the "Dark side"!
The factory tire finally came to the end of its life on my new (to me) 2013 r3t,so I got a new Goodyear Assurance triple tread. It's a 205 60 r16. I had the same on my 2008. I didn't realize how much I missed it. The old friend is back!

Have you ever tried a wider CT. Like a 225 ? If so, did you notice differences? ? Some of us R3owners report running 245/50/16. I run a 225/55/16.

I use 245's on all my Rockets,55 profile. They look fat, and I have never had a problem in the twisties
