Hi All,

Just window shopping for now full full exhaust systems for my 2014 roadster and the only thing that looks like it would fit the bill is the Zard Snake at some silly amount of money

What I want is a exhaust with the following:

  • 3 into 1 system with single can
  • A non restrictive set of headers/pipes
  • A sportier style of can (stubby/short not long) with removable baffle that doesn't sit in front of the rear wheel axle
  • Ideally black ceramic finish
  • Heat shielding on the pipes nearest my leg!
  • And obviously a nice sound that can be quietened down with a baffle (a bit)

I contacted, just to get an idea, an exhaust manufacturer that does the who mandrel bending thing etc asking them the following:
"Just want a rough idea on price for a complete system for a Rocket III roadster, something along the same lines as the Zard snake (http://www.zardexhaust.com/wp-content/gallery/rocket-2010-full-kit-snake/rocket20101.jpg) but not bothered about all the curves with the pipes or the fancy sectional pieces, just a system around the same dimensions as the Zard that isn't restrictive (with support for a baffle) and that is black matt finished as I am blackening lots of the bike as I go. Also need heat shielding too...."

I got a reply, basic estimate of ~ £900, not too shabby, certainly worth considering...

What options do I have that fit the list above and is available in the UK guys? Is going custom the only option I have apart from the Zard right now? The carpenter exhaust looks okay but I want something that can take a baffle as standard....

The Zard Snake Welded is priced at €1978 or £1637 (with removable baffle)...not sure if it is a little restrictive too....nice looking though. That doesn't include any heat shielding though and it needs it apparently

I've seen a piccy on Facebook of one fitted with just the can black ceramic coated so you get to show off the welds on the pipes...looks lovely

You can add a baffle the the Carpenter pipe but the little shields they supply Blow!!!!
Other then that its a excellent pipe for making power. You can also get it unpolished and have it coated.

i lost my faith in quotes when some dude said he'd make mine for €250. it cost about €2000. was thinking of converting into a single can 3-1 to help with power, but black coating is def on the to-do as the purpleybrown heat discoloration of the stainless is a bit naff. then chrome the couple of heatsheilds. then it would actually be same as what you describe

I am thinking as much as the zard is nice I am never gonna pay the sort of money being asked for it, it''s ridiculous no matter how nice the build is...

I am thinking that it would make most sense to get some custom 3 to 1 headers made and attach a decent tri-oval end can on the end, using either a 3 bolt flange or the spring based attachment...

Anyone ever done the same?

How much are the Zards? When Sam was producing the Preds, they were like $1800.00

I didn't blink an eye when I finally was able to purchase a set.

On edit: Just saw one of your previous posts about the cost: 1978 Euro equals 2732.80 US Dollar. That would make me blink an eye.
