Down towards the ground. There is one adjustment nut on the top of the bracket and one locknut on the bottom. Yes down at the bracket. All the slack was already taken up at the top

thats bass akwards, you're not supposed to be taking up slack. You need to be adding slack. Now adjust at the bottom bracket so that you ADD slack to the internal cable. Not the outer housing ;)

Cool. Hopefully that will fix it. I don't need to be fixing stuff this soon. Wife is not happy I may have to buy a clutch already.

Just a small thread hijack here... Sorry Big Norm.. my 05 has about 37,000k on it. I bought it with 24,000k and it has had a small amount of slippage since I bought it. It does not slip at all while riding, or even when I take off, IF i don't turn a lot of throttle. But if I take off with a lot of throttle & let out clutch lever too quickly it will slip some. Not so much that I feel it, as much as I hear it. It's like if I wanted to launch fast as in drag from a dead stop, I'm not able to do that without gentle throttle with slightly gradual lever release & then i can get on it. more like a slow rolling start than from a dead stop. And yes, it is adjusted properly.
Anyone else get this from your Rocket???

Anybody?

From my limited expertise on the topic I would replace the clutch springs with the MTC ones for the kawi 1000 CLU-K172. It looks like I'm replacing the clutch disks on mine.

Yea bruh, I'm just tryin to see if anyone else has had this minor issue. I've had it for 1 year + and it has not gotten any worse so I want to know if it's common

I can't believe I'm replacing mine so soon. It must have been rode hard and put away wet. The rear tire did look brand new at 2000 miles when I bought it. Hmmmmm. Oh well. I can't wait to get in there it's the having to spend money that hurts.

Yea, I find it hard to believe for your amount of miles????? Are you sure you adjusted the cable to where it had complete slack in the inner cable?

If your adjuster is not screwed in enuff, like this:

To give your lever, when pulled in just before disengaging, a 2-3mm gap like this:

Then there is not enuff slack - If you've screwed it in all the way & still don't have slack, you need to go to the bottom end of the cable housing & loosen (back off) this nut:

So that you can screw the bottom nut clockwise, which will move the threaded end of the housing closer to the actuating arm, which will give you more slack in the inner cable. Once you have that set properly, then you can go back to lever end & adjust that to correct specs

Yep. That's what I did. My levers are a little different so I don't get that gap like you do but I have a lot more play than that right now. I gave it more just to see if I could get away with running these clutch plates a little longer. NOPE. :( I was f'n around with alot of throttle and clutch. I won't be doing that any more. :(

Ok, Bigun, just makin sure............

Ya know, over in the Middle East when they're drillin for oil, they have to have 2 complete crews of them goat plukerz for drillin that hole. 1 crew just for connecting pipe goin in the hole, and a complete different crew for disconnecting, comin back out of the hole............
They just don't get that "righty tighty - lefty loosy" thing over there ;)
NOT that I'm saying that's ewe :D :p  o_O
