I do clutchless upshifts often too. Have done on many of my bikes. Gotta actually think now what times do I do it, as it's more a second nature thing as been doing it for so long.

I think it's when riding gentler like more cruising, when getting ready to shift up, just kinda put a little pressure on the gear lever lifting it up , then when I roll off the revs slightly it just clicks up into the next gear. Makes it smoother for a pillion.
 
Got me thinking, anyone ever put a quick-shifter on a Rocket 3?
Claviger had one fitted prior to the recent gearbox failure. In his words: 'Rocket will get strengthened and rebuilt. Quickshifter is coming off, the transmission clearly just can’t cope with it in the long term.'
 
If I remember correctly the general consensus on the forum is that the MTC springs suck, Carpenter springs are the way to go, hopefully someone will back me up.
