UPDATE: The reason the bike was running rough when started is because the stepper motor was out of adjustment. I haven't got the bike yet from the dealer but they called and told me what the problem was. How it got out of adjustment I have no idea. The fix was covered under Triumph warranty. The reason I havent got the bike back yet is that they kept it to check the valve clearances with the bike having 10k miles on it now. The bike had a hard time starting and once started it ran rich with erratic idle until it ran almost 4 minutes then it would smooth out to normal. I was told by fellow captains that it was the primary TPS but if the dealer truly found the problem then anyone having the same problems might want to check the stepper motor.

I do a ISCV check once a month. If the TPS and stepper motor are in sync it take less then a minute to go thru it with tune boy. If I notice a variance then I make the needed changes and note them for tracking purpose.

My idle is not perfect but then one would expect that with all the modifications. I do use the irridium plugs with a smaller gap so the boost pressure does not blow thw spark out. They seem to work good. I also have modified the timing at idle in my map.

warp what does ISCV stand for?
Is it adjustable using TuneECU?

It seems I'm going need to learn how to check and adjust it if I want it to run correctly. I just have a hard time trying to figure out how mine got out of adjustment when more than likely there is bikes older than mine that have not had this problem.

Reset ISCV in Tuneboy
Anybody do the ISCV reset in Tuneboy?

I found that by clicking reset ISCV on the bottom of the sensors screen that the voltage reading for the primary TPS is real time rather than updating every 15 seconds or so. There is also scrolling instructions on the bottom of the screen that is a four step process.

Step 1. Click reset ISCV and adjust TPS sensor until a voltage reading of .60 is obtained.

Step 2. Click ISCV again and you should observe a .12 increase in the TPS reading. So if it was .60 then it should be .72, if not adjust the TPS until the reading is .12 above what you set it at in Step 1.

I did this and got mixed results. When the TPS was set at .60 I would get readings of .705 in Step 2. If I adjusted it to .720 readings in later steps would not be in the range required in the service manual (.60 +-.02 volts).

Step 3. Click ISCV again and scrolling instructions say not to touch anything for 15 sec. The voltage should return to .60.

If I did adjust the voltage in Step 2 to .720 then it would return to .650 or higher. If I did not adjust the voltage in Step 2 and let it be at .705 or so it would return to .60.

Step 4. Click the reset adaptions button.

After doing this my TPS voltage would be anywhere from .685 to .700. I repeated Steps 1 through 3 and skipped 4 and the voltage was .645. (It was .650 when I started)

So I ended up just setting the voltage as in Step 1 without going through the other steps. Anyway it resides in the range prescribed by Triumph and idles a little stronger.

Anyone else try this and have better results???? Or is it just me???? I had the ignition on, bike not running and a battery charger hooked up to maintain battery voltage (which can also be observed on Tuneboy sensors page).

Like anything else, mully, you need to have the proper tools!;)

I just uploaded the shop manual to my laptop so I will do some investigation. Seems to me Triumph should include this adjustment just by using the 12 minute tune......somehow.
 
Nope, but I'm sure that Scott will be along to answer more better than I. You need to do the adjustments manually (mechanically), I believe, with the use and assistance of an accurate voltmeter.

Yep I see the type adjustment that needs to be done now in the manual.
