What a time for the check engine light to come on. Just had the 20,000 mile service done last week. I am prety sure it is nothing serious and just needs a reset. Rather than run down to Triumph Detroit I got an appointment with Classic Motorsports in Traverse City only about 30 miles away. They are mainly a Harley shop but have Triumphs and can do a diagnostic.

Something else I found out about the 2013 R3T, the oil will drain down from the reservoir into the crankcase so you want to check the oil after running it for a few minutes and wait about 4 minutes after shut down to check the oil. Also it is **** hard to read the stick with new oil:)

Thats the way you check oil in all Rockets hopefully the check engine light is nothing. You have a bad oil non return valve or O-ring on it which is letting the oil drop down when not running. easy to change and or check/ change as it just pops in once the sump pan is off. Some times they are not seated in. The O ring is what holds it in the block. As long as its not loosing the oil to fast and you run it for a minute or two before you check it you will be ok.

Please do not freak out about my post a lot ofRocket engines have a little leak down which is why we are always supposed to run the engine for a minute or two to get the oil from the sump that leaked down baack into the tank.

other then the oil non return valve the only other thing or time I have seen the tank empty is when some one had the sump off and did not get the gasket lined up right. In this case it leaked drained/leaked out of the tank pretty fast. I think it was Val but no matter. As long as your sump pan has not been pulled latley the its most likely the Oil non return vavle O-ring. When you gat back and want to takle the job its real easy. I can even supply some pictures if the manual is noot enough for you. If and when you do this you will want to claen your sump screens out as machining swarf will be in them. Its almost impossible the get the engine block totally cleaned when they make it so some swarf (machining debris and casting debris will end up there. Of course the good thing is this means the screans are doing what they are supposed to do.
If you were to loose a bearing they would collect most of the debris saving the filter from being clogged and the debris from pumping thru thenrest of the engine like crankshaft bearings. So jus tmake sure its not a fast leak down and youwill be fine.
