Changing Brake Fluid on ABS

So I guess what I read is true - we need a program like this to open the ABS valve system to ensure we get all the fluid? Do you have this program? Is all you have to do is engage the ABS portion of the program and then just bleed the brakes as it would normally be done?

There is a brake bleeding procedure in the service manual for use with dealer tool if I remember correctly, but I'm not where I can access my shop manual. I've never actually used it as I only just purchased the dealer tool software fairly recently. I had to have it to reset the service interval on my Speed Triple after an oil change or I probably still wouldn't have it. IMHO you can swap out the brake fluid or bleed the brakes without functioning the ABS (although I'm sure someone will come along and disagree). The volume of old fluid contained in the ABS valves would be pretty minimal and very unlikely to matter much unless you had severe contamination in your brake system. The only time I can see the software being critical is when you actually change out brake system components and get air in the ABS portion which would make functioning the ABS valves pretty critical to getting all of the air out of the system.

No way to function the ABS in TuneECU...that requires Dealer Tool.

Thank you for this information! I agree with you and just going to move ahead on this. I live in a location that has four full seasons so I do brake fluid changes yearly anyways just for my own piece of mind. You do make a very good point though if I ever have to take apart calipers and rebuild them because I will introduce air into the system at that point. But I will cross that bridge when I get to it. Yes I read about it several months ago, then I thought maybe I imagined it!! Got a slight case of CRS
( can't remember $hit) paper memory!

I talked with a dealer about it. He confirmed that, in order to change brakefluid completely, al things that are mentioned are nescessary. However he also explained that its not a problem at alle to pass-by the abs reservoir. He advised me to do the 100% refill once every 5 year to be sure te system stays fresh.
