Can a Rocket III take down the establishment, and rule this island

It's a big day in the village Monday.. dyno day.. finally.
48 hours from now the bike will either be blown up or the dyno will be looking exhausted.

Changed the oil out to Motul 10W50 and gave it a new supercharger belt the other day.
Went to take it for a run, and the throttle cable hook on the grip broke :sick:

But what was lucky was that it broke in the garage, and I had time to get a replacement before dyno day.

I've heard of heated grip throttle cable hooks breaking on people a few times. After 15 years, now it's my turn.
Good few folks recommended Oxford heated grips, but when I found that they still need the Triumph tube to go inside the grip (the thing what the throttle cables hook into), I didn't see the point. Still gonna be a Triumph throttle cable hook.

Anyway couldn't find a Triumph heated grip, so just got a normal one.
Turns out they don't even have Triumph written on them anymore, the official OEM part is actually this exact set, if anyone is looking for "Triumph" grips;

Instead of heated grips for the winter, I got a pair of RST Paragon 6 heated gloves (battery ones).

Anywho, fitted the RH grip and off I went for a shakedown spin before dyno day.
The new belt has made an improvement in throttle response - I guess the old tired worn one was slipping a bit.

Now I have to clean the bike, maybe fit that shift light, and get ready for the most exciting Monday of my life 🫣
 
I hope you are not checking that 9k rpm thing😳 7.5k and bring her on home with some monster numbers, you can be the best builder in world but these things are not designed for 9k, not to open that debate, now, on the eve of many years hard work, but you hoodlums that do spinnem up to 9k worry me😂 good luck bud!

Trouble is, the selectable rev limit in the TuneECU map being at 9000, when you go to adjust it, it doesn't work so good.
I've an 8000rpm map there too but 8 is a shade low.
From what I understand, up to 25m/s is the max for factory engines, 28 for forged engines and over that is top fuel dragster territory where the engines only need to last seconds....
Carpenter 9000rpm engines with forged pistons are 28m/s.
So i think I'll stick to that for now.
That's 8250rpm.
Adjusting the limit to that isn't doable right now so will just have dyno guy back off when tacho maxes out at 8k.



Well, today's the day.
And nothing like a last minute bit of drama.

Watching back videos of runs I noticed that there was a roughness at 7k in 3rd.
But AFR OK and no pinging. But had flames out the exhaust.
So I figured it has to be misfire.
Decided to open up and check the plugs.
Turns out that the gaps I'd set on the tight side for boost, well they were now a bit too tight on cylinder 3 and those plugs were sooty. Are also the only cylinder with both P type plugs.
They might be the reason for the 7k misfire.
So I brushed them down and widened the gap.

Put it back together. Went for a run. Heard an intermittent whacking sound.
Turns out the new supercharger belt has frayed and now down to 5 ribs...
Okay so back to the 10 year old worn belt.

Went to run again. Now I've got a massive petrol leak.
Wtf.
Is this bike cursed.
Does it NOT want to go dyno?
New jubilee and it's still leaking. Ok. New bit of pipe and jubilees and leak has stopped.

Fingers crossed now no more dramas.
That's three things - the throttle cable hook on my grip broke the other day so that's 3 things. They say it happens in 3s...

Probably an optical illusion but some of the isolators on the plugs appear a different length. What do you think caused the belt problem?
