Back in '98 I went on a TDY in Thailand for the exercise Cobra Gold. That was when the AF still had the C-9s and the first day of duty they had us report to a specific C-9 tail#. We report and the ramp opens...on the ramp strapped down is a 463L pallet and on that pallet was this VERY large box and inside that large box were...rubbers!
The AF thought it was a good preventative measure considering at that time we were in one of the highest AIDS rates in the world. That box didn't make it a day before it was emptied and yes...there were lots of people reporting to that C-9 to see if there were still free GI rubbers to be issued out
I think the hero brush might of had a use during those couple of weeks too!
