Just a quick note on both, no pics yet.

I mentioned I had ordered the Breakaway throttle release. It came in the mail promptly and was packed like it should survive a space shot. Very nice in all respects.

The instructions are longish. And I had to read them. Twice. But the install is really simple, I just had a little trouble rectifying what I remembered it looked like on Donovans bike and what I had before me. The instructions make it VERY clear that you must have no more than 1/4 inch of side play (up and down) on the end of the brake lever. I have about 1/2 inch or maybe 3/4 inch. Later I will replace the lever and see if I can clean up the action. The result is, that when properly adjusted the mechanism can be DEFEATED if you pull UP and Back on the brake lever, thereby lifting it over the cam that is supposed to disengage the lock. My normal pull is back and down, so it is sort of a non issue.

There is a potential problem in that under normal circumstances you move you hand to the brake while the throttle simultaneously closes. With the breakaway, you grab the brake, (and therefor the throttle) and then squeeze, which releases the brake, but the throttle is still held open. In a panic situation this could be bad, but it is infinitely better than the "o-ring" method I have used.

Lastly I have installed a set of air horns up under the rear where the catalytic converter used to be. They are mounted on a pipe that uses the catalytic converter mounts. Painted black they are completely invisible and the sound is completely unrestricted. The compressor is in the space where the original air filter sat. VERY LOUD. They are louder than the predator exhaust. 8) 8)

that's cool, adding those mod's. I wonder how the horn's gonna' take the heat down there?

Nice one Doc, post pics, my imagination ain't what it used to be.

I'm counting on the heat to keep the water dried off!
They point to the side, so the tire won't throw water into them directly, and they point down at about 30 degrees, so they might survive the winter. (I don't get ice or snow). The heat is another matter. I suspect they will be distorted, but hope they won't melt into a puddle. I will get them out on Highway 40 or 10 this summer and find out! 8)

I wasn't being sarcastic or anything, but it does get warm down there. If worse comes to worse, maybe a stainless steel "heat shield" or reflector would do the trick.

Hey Doc, I will need to look into that breakaway throttle control! I need to get something for my Rocket. I also have been thinking about where I can place some air horns on my bike. With all the commuting, I need a horn that is fitting of a Rocket, not the little Vespa horn that Triumph gives us!!
